Legendary Brazilian Icon Embarks on 500KM Cycling Vow
The Ronaldo Academy Hong Kong applauds the phenomenal Ronaldo and Real Valladolid!
When his club, Real Valladolid, got relegated from Spain’s top flight last season, Ronaldo pledged on social media to cycle 500km if his club gained promotion back to the Spanish LaLiga. Valladolid secured automatic promotion on their first attempt last weekend [30 May 2022].
“I promised that if we came back [to La Liga], I would do the Camino de Santiago. I will do it by bike as I can’t run. My wife [Celina Locks] and I will leave from Valladolid on Sunday [5 June 2022] and travel to Santiago de Compostela by bicycle.”
Ronaldo was true to his word and has kicked off alongside his wife to journey dozens of kilometers a day along the traditional pilgrimage route (the Way of St. James) from Valladolid’s Estadio Jose Zorrilla stadium to a famous shrine in northwestern Spain in Santiago de Compostela in five stages.
“It will be beautiful. I know that I will suffer physically but it will be an unforgettable experience.”
